It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne King, 76, who dies peacefully at Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax on October 10, 2026.
Wayne was a son of the late Gerald Daniel King and Mary Evangeline (Delorey) King. He grew up in Halifax, and learned the art of carpentry from his uncle, Gerald "Tutty" Gardiner, who was his mentor and who had a huge influence on Wayne as a child and young adult. Wayne was also a musician who played in local bands in the city in his younger years. He moved to PEI in the early 70's where he built a professional recording studio in his house. He spent several years involved in the music industry, while continuing to work as a carpenter.
He subsequently moved back to Halifax and continued to work as a carpenter and general contractor for the rest of his working days.
Wayne is survived by his wife, janet (Nicholson) King, daughter Madeline Kircher (James MacAulay), brothers, Victor, Terry and Michael, and sisters Merle (Don) Pettipas, Beverley King and Mary (Gavin) Alward, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley (Raymond) Burke.
We would like to thank the staff of McNab's Court, Parkstone, for the care and compassion they showed to Wayne in his year with them. It did not go unnoticed.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation.
Wayne was a lifelong animal lover, in particular, his many cats over the years, and more recently, his little dog, Phoebe. Should you wish to make a donation in Wayne's memory, please consider Hope for Wildlife or SHAID animal shelter.
