

Bennett, Gertrude Elizabeth “Trudy” passed away peacefully on October 31, 2013 in Northwood Ivany Place, Bedford. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Mary Margaret Myatt. She was employed for many years at Eaton’s, The Tartan House and Goodman’s Fabrics. Trudy was known for her kindness, compassion, joy of life and friendship. She enjoyed socializing, traveling and her hobbies of bowling, painting and crewel work. She gave many volunteer hours to several organizations including St. John Ambulance and the Canadian Red Cross. She lived her faith by active involvement in St. Christopher’s Church, Hatchett Lake and St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Halifax. She was a member of the Children of Mary Sodality and a former member of the Secular Franciscan Order. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are a brother Thomas David Whelton and niece Kristina(Thomas) Whelton-Davis and their son Keyan, Vancouver BC. Trudy was predeceased by her husband Clarence Joseph Bennett. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 4, 3-7pm in Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Hfx B3K 5C9(423-7295). Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Halifax, Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 10am, Fr. Thomas Mabey officiating, reception to follow. Memorial donations would be welcomed for St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, the Children of Mary Sodality c/o St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica of a charity of choice.
