

Gladys Mae (Perks) Whitford – 96, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025 at Shoreham Village Nursing Home, where she lived for the past 9 years.
Gladys was born in Halifax on November 9, 1928 to Henry and Jean (White) Perks. She was the eldest daughter of four children. As a young girl Glady went to Tower Road School and grew up next to Point Pleasant Park, which she always considered her backyard. An avid golfer, Glady was a long time member of the Chester Golf Club. Glady also showed off her creative side as an enthusiastic member of the Northwood Players. She was known for her quick wit, singing and dancing and her mastery and passion for baking. She was especially well known for he brownies, blueberry cake and lemon squares.
Gladys is survived by her three children, Donna of Chester, Nancy (Dennis) Wood of Mill Cove and Jamie (Deanna) of Prospect: 4 grandchildren – Shaun, Zachary, Hannah (Matthew) Martel and Amanda.
Glady was Predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Evan Whitford, her brothers Bill and Gordon Perks and her sister, Barbara Hemphill.
