Greta Agnes Conrad

Greta Agnes Conrad, age 93 of Halifax, passed away September 27, 2025 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.

Born in Western Shore, N.S she was the daughter of Blanche Faye Moland and Edward Archibald Vaughan.

She was a foster mom for over 25 years, fostering over 60 children. She loved children, especially babies, which is why she had 8 children of her own. She attended Full Gospel Church and Faith Tabernacle in Halifax. She loved God with all her heart on her final days and is now happy to be reunited with her family and friends who have gone before her. Her daughter Brenda took great care of her mother over the past 10 years.

Greta was survived by her 3 daughters Cathy Potvin (Paul), Brenda Garland, and Gena Lafieur (Guy); 2 sons Bill Garland (Marilyn) and Ross Garland; sister Bessie Doucette and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by Myles Garland (1st husband), Wilbert Conrad (2nd husband); daughter Wendy Dodge; 2 sons John Garland and Myles Garland; Mother Blanche Zinck (Moland); father Edward Vaughan; brother Warren Moland; and 2 sisters Iris Vaughan Maling, and Lucy Drake.

Funeral service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax at 11am with Rev. Russell Knowles officiating. Reception following the service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Western Shore Cemetery, 6630 Lighthouse Rte, Western Shore after the reception.
