
Silver, Iona Madeline – 89, of Halifax passed away peacefully at home October 23, 2012. Born in Chester Basin she was the daughter of the late Carlyle and Olive (Legge) Croft. She is survived by her son Wayne MacQuarrie of Hammonds Plains, three grandchildren - Robert MacQuarrie (Delaware) Pamela Levy and Shelley Hire of Sackville and three great grandchildren - Cory Levy and Jenna Hire of Sackville and Ciaran MacQuarrie of Delaware, two nephews Cheslie (Lee) Croft (Ottawa) and Barrie Croft (Halifax). She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald MacQuarrie, second husband Paul Silver and her brother Cheslie Croft. She was a 75 year member of West End United Baptist Church of Halifax. She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star of Nova Scotia for many years. She worked for a Ships Chandler during and after the war, she was a housewife until she went to work for Halifax British Motors, she then went work for Canada Trust Real Estate until her retirement. She will be sadly missed by her two caregivers Olive Warren and Marilyn Gale "Our Newfoundland Angels". There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at two PM Monday October 29, 2012 at Cruikshank Halifax Funeral Home, Windsor St., Halifax. Pastor Nolan Lee of West End Baptist United Church will officiate. Internment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to your charity of choice.
