Jean Elizabeth Newcombe

Passed away at the age of 93 on March 23, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS. Born in Dartmouth, NS she was the daughter of the late Mark and Rita Sheaves and wife of the late Robert Newcombe.

Jean was a loving and devoted Mother of 11 and loved every moment of her busy life. She loved the great outdoors and all it had to offer. Camping and visiting the Exhibition were some of her favourite things to do. She was never shy about her love for a good music festival or to jump on board for an excursion at the 50 Mile Yard sale.

She is survived by her children; Charlene Keenan, Deborah Newcombe, Aubrey (Colleen), Vernon, Susanne Pye (Todd), Annette Pye (Scott LeBlanc), Bernadette Newcombe and Kelly Newcombe; grandchildren; Jeanette, Joanne, Kevin, Tammy, Amanda, Steven, Mark, Natasha, Kevin, Devin, Alicia, Jessica, Christopher, Jason, Robert, Melissa, Devon, Nicholas, Johnathon, Justin, Tamara, Crystal, Tina, Tanya, Todd, Jamie, Amy and Janet; her sister, Marion MacKenzie as well as many great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and her husband, Jean was also predeceased by a daughter in infancy; Marlene, daughter, Audrey and son, Robert “Bobby”; granddaughter, Jennifer and brother in law Wilbur MacKenzie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 27 from 6-8pm at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax where service will also be held on Tuesday, March 28 at 11am with burial at Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
