

MacLean, John Robert “Bob”-78, of Halifax passed away Thursday February 10, 2011, at the QE II Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Irving and Marcella (Malloy) MacLean. Bob attended St. Mary’s University before joining the Halifax Rifles. He also worked in the insurance industry for 30 years, retiring with Prudential Assurance. After retirement he worked in the Corps de Commissionaires. Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening, puttering, and special times with his grandchildren. His longtime membership in the Halifax Rifles Association created enduring friendships. He is survived by his son, Duncan (Rhonda), Bedford; sister, Katherine Power, St. John’s, NL; two grandchildren Emily and Ted; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley; sister, Rosemary and step-brother Duncan. Visitation will be held on Monday February 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8pm in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, (902) 423-7295. Memorial service will be held at a later date.
