Age 80, Ken passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Northwood Centre, Halifax, N.S. surrounded by family.
Son of the late Henry and Freda Offman; brother to Linda and Allan D. Offman (Sandy Fitzpatrick), father to Stacey (Oz Lubling) and Andrew Offman (Laura); “Papa” to Noa and Esti Lubling and Henry and Jacob Offman. Also survived by Stacey and Andrew's mother Wendy Offman (Sterling) and many Offman, Cordon and Soberman cousins in his extended family in Halifax and Toronto.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Shirley Chernin for her friendship and companionship over the past 10 years with Ken and her always being there for him.
Ken lived all his life in Halifax and knew a lot of people in the City who came from all walks of life. He worked in construction, ran his convenience stores on Quinpool Road, then Jubilee Road and spent time as a cab driver. A social person, he always had time to talk, joke or “kibbitz” with friends, family and strangers. Family meant everything to him and he was so very proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments.
Funeral will take place on Monday, March 25th at 1pm, Shaar Shalom Synagogue, 1961 Oxford Street, internment to follow at Shaar Shalom Cemetary. Shiva visitation will take place at 1470 Summer Street ("Summer Gardens"), Blue Room, ground floor. Hours as follows: Monday – Wednesday at 6:00-8:00pm.
Very special thanks to Tricia Wright and the stellar nursing and care team of 1st Floor Unit, at Northwood Centre for their excellent care, humour and constant attention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
