Brown, Leonard Leroy Jeffery, 74 of Halifax passed away peacefully in his home with his wife Deborah and children Shalena and Jeffery at his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Leroy and Ethel May (Slawter) Brown, and predeceased by his sisters Juanita Brown and Irene Taylor. Leonard worked for 25 years with Canadian Pacific Transport and was a member of the Masonic Foundation of Nova Scotia, Equity Lodge No. 106. He loved his volunteer time at the Rehabilitation-Supportive-Care Centre, Northwood Care, and Camp Hill hospital. He was a man who touched many lives with his kindness and generosity, selflessly giving of his time to those who needed it the most.
Left with loving memories are his wife Deborah, daughter Shalena, and son Jeffery. Siblings left behind to celebrate his life are Vivian (Cecil), Lorraine, Sylvia (Richard), Sharon, Maxine (John), Deborah, and Carolyn, along with brothers Terry (Marlene) and Ricky (Sharon). Leonard will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.
At the age of 68, Leonard went back to school to earn his High School Diploma. Leonard possessed a great ability to think outside the box, making obstacles easy for him to overcome. A handyman, Leonard never came across a problem he couldn’t fix. A great lover of history books, as well as his home, he could easily recite many events that occurred in Halifax during WWII, a favorite topic of his. Leonard was kind-hearted, well-loved, and very well known, always quick with a joke and could laugh at a moment’s notice. He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, and uncle who with great warmth and humour, and incredible strength, provided unconditional love not only to those closest to him, but to the community as well.
Let us celebrate his life and remember him well for the great and noble man that he was.
