Lizzie Sitland

15 November , 192431 May , 2019

Lizzie Sitland (94; Northwood, Halifax) was the daughter of the late Rupert and Mary Jane Green (Rencontre West, Herimitage Bay, Newfoundland).

She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Glenn); grandchildren Scott Grandy (Heather, Halifax) and Jacqueline Boorman (Glen, Fredericton), great grandchildren Olivia and Hilary (Fredericton), sisters Rosie Cake (Abe; NF), Mary Miles (George; PQ) and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Sandra and son Kenneth. She was also predeceased by her bothers Richard (Shirley) and Enos (Jessie) Green.

Lizzie was a fixture at Northwood for over 30 years, both as a volunteer and then as a resident. Her kindness, generosity and sense of humour touched everyone she interacted with. She embodied everything that was good about the human spirit and was loved by family and friends. She will always be remembered for her tea biscuits, brown sugar fudge and knitted dishcloths. Her grand-daughters and grand-dogs held a very special place in her heart and she was not shy to brag about them. Lizzie loved her family dearly and always looked forward to spending time with them. With her 94 years of life came great wisdom that she happily shared. Most recently she gave some great advice to her grand-daughters on how to sew the perfect “srcunchie”. Lizzie left family and friends with countless memories to make us smile; she will never be forgotten.

A special thanks to the staff as the QEII Emergency Department and Dr. Green (Neurology). Also to the staff and nurses at 9 Manor Assisted Living at Northwood, you kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Northwood foundation.

Service to be held on Friday, June 7th at 1000 AM at CFH with burial to follow at Camphill Cemetery.

have a memory or condolence to add?

It was my pleasure to see Lizzie at every Friday service I conducted at Northwood as the Priest at St. Mark's, added to that was visits to her room especially to bring a newsletter or birthday card. She will be missed but her memory will last a long time.

Easter Peace

Dear Shirley and Family. The write up for your Mum was so perfect. I have so many wonderful memories of her - shared lunches of her home made mac and cheese and oh those tea biscuits with cups of tea. I have washed and set aside my remaining dish clothes. I will use them again but not right now.
Thank you for sharing your Mum with me for all these years. She was such a wonderful person and I will so miss our Saturday evening chats. We were all blessed to have this amazing lady on our lives. Heaven has gained another angel - and my tears are mixed with great memories. I share a picture Peter took during our visit in 2015 (when she stole his heart too on his first visit).

Now 82 years of age and living in another province, I will never forget Lizzie and George whom I met
back in the 1990's. In those years I worked for the VON.
My sincere condolences to Lizzie's family'
You were blessed to have such beautiful parents.
