Louise Agnes Abraham, of Halifax Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024 at the QE11 Health Sciences Centre at the age of 100. Louise was born in Halifax on September 10, 1923. She was the daughter of William Younes Gosine and Martha Saab.
Louise is survived by her loving daughters Rosalie (Bruce) Organ and Marta (Richard) Abraham. She is also survived by her loving sons William (Dolores), Edward (Sarah), Paul (Anne Marie) and Kenneth Abraham. Granny is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Paul Peter Abraham. She was also predeceased by her sisters Emmaline Juteau , Matilda(Tillie) Hayward, Francis MacDonald, Annie Resk and her brothers Michael and Jimmy Gosine.
Louise believed in hard work, excellence, loyalty and education. She had an unapologetically dazzling flair for fashion and was a true trendsetter. She loved to dance, making her own clothes, travel and physical fitness. She also loved being in the company of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Pictures of them brought a smile to her face. Louise had a strong Catholic faith which gave her great comfort.
The family would like to thank the hospital staff, the Berkely Gladstone, and Irena (communion minister) for all of their help, support and love towards Louise, and everyone else who supported Louise through the years.
She will be sorely missed.
The funeral mass will be at Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata Church (St. Stephen’s), Halifax, on Thursday Feb 8 at 11:00, Father Nathaniel Desroches presiding, with a eulogy and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research.
