It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Lourdes Duco Discipulo, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to many, on June 14, 2026, with her family by her side, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Lud or Lulu as she was known by her loved ones, was born in Manila, Philippines, on Jan 5, 1936, to Bruno Duco and Melitona Miranda Duco. She was a sister to Julita (deceased), Leonardo (Illinois, USA), Conception (deceased) and Pacita (Manila, Philippines).
She was married to her devoted husband, Francisco, for almost 73 years - ultimately one of a kind. They were best friends, the team to beat, true love, forever love! Together, they had three wonderful children in Nelia (Danilo), the late Romeo (Angelina) and Ronaldo (Elena) and was a very proud Nanay (Mother) to them. They were each other’s stronghold, that hand-in-hand, all of their children were raised with values intact and made sure to finish education to lead their own families to a better ground.
A loving “Mommy” to her grandchildren, Mary Gold, Mary Gail, Francesca Paula (Alfred), Mary Glad (Jason), Katrina Paula and Ron Rich (deceased) and a doting great grandmother to Alessandria, Maxenne, Paulus Romeo, and Skye Vee. She was the fun “Auntie Lud” to tons of her nephews, nieces and people who knew her and a loyal friend to so many. To her relatives, she was their constant support.
Her generosity was imbued toward her siblings. This life-long devotion extended beyond her immediate family, more so during their most difficult times. She held a heart bigger than she was. She had an impeccable sense of humour - she was the darling of every crowd and that wonderful woman you’d like to converse or even sing with. She thought ahead of everyone and knew how to use her charm.
For those she left in her home country, after migrating to Canada, she made conscious effort to make sure that no time nor distance kept the family apart. Her unwavering faith in God and respect to others, is the legacy to be lived on by her love ones. We will all miss her as she joins our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
