Margaret Elizabeth Egan

Age 88, of Halifax

It is with great sadness that Margaret’s family announces her passing on August 6th, 2015 in Northwood Centre, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born February 8, 1927, she was the only child of Bertha (Fitzgerald) and John Honey. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Martin Egan. She is survived by her children, Marie Forgeron (Earl), Michael (Heather), Catherine Misner (Sidney) and John (Anne); grandchildren Anne Hooper, Michelle Doucet, Kim and Kevin Misner and Zachary Egan; great grandchildren Ben Hooper and Carson Doucet.

Margaret had a great sense of humor and her love of animals was a gift she bestowed on her children and grandchildren. Margaret was a stay at home mom to her children and worked at the Magazine Hill Ammunition Depot during the Second World War.

Margaret will be resting at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax on Sunday August 9th from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. A Christian Rite of Burial will be held on Monday August 10th at 10 A.M. at Saint Patrick’s Church, Brunswick Street with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, immediately following.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Northwood Assisted Living with a special thanks to Connie and Penny for their dedication during her time there and the staff of 1 Centre for her end of life care. We would also like to thank Dr. Jack Sommers who always worked in the best interest of the dignity and well-being of Margaret and her family.

May she find peace in the arms of the Lord.
