At age 79, passed away on November 16, 2025, at Shannex Opal Ridge Long Term Care in Dartmouth. Born, raised and educated in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Gordan and Matilda MacLellan.
She graduated from The Victoria General School of Nursing in 1967 as an R.N. She worked in Saint John and Sussex. While living in Fredericton, she was very involved in the “Y” Art Shows, teaching Sunday School, and in the figure skating community.
In their retirement, she was a gifted quilter whose work is cherished by many. A stay-at-home mom who raised three children, she was a true mother and wife. She was a businesswoman as she owned and operated The Sea Shanty Craft Shop in Englishtown, Cape Breton for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister, brother, and many aunts and uncles. Left to mourn are her husband, Clifford Smith, her sons, Troy Andrew (Julie), Trevor James (T.J) (Andrea), and daughter Tasha Lynn (Doug) Gallant, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren along with many cousins and friends. A committal will be held in Sydney Mines, N.S. in June with a date to be determined.
