Nanny,
I have so many memories of you it is hard to know where to start. Growing up, I wasn’t able to see you whenever I wanted so I looked forward to our almost yearly visits to Halifax. While our visits were short you made sure to shower us with all your love and pride in us. Every visit I loved going through your albums of pictures , seeing Dad and my aunts and uncles as children. The picture that the family has posted of you was always my favourite.
As you can see from the postings of memories, you have engrained in us a love of baking. Take comfort in knowing that skill is being passed to our children and grandchildren. Making great food is the Wheten way of showing love!!
I love you Nan and I will miss you. Say hi to Dad when you see him!

Pam

Goodbye Nanny,
There are such wonderful memories of Nanny, the Nanny we all used to know. There was love in everything she did, from baking giant date cookies, cinnamon rolls and caramel corn, to crocheting clothes for my dolls, afghans for our laps and pillows. We always felt welcome and it was a special treat when Camille’s Fish n chips was ordered and we got to eat on the TV trays.
Her laughter was a source of joy, and her words were warm and wise. She was kind, compassionate and gave the best hugs. My five children remembered her in their nightly prayers, “God Bless Nanny Wheten & Uncle Eddie” their little voices say.
It helps to ease the sadness of your death to know that Granny, Grampy, Uncle Joseph, Baby Kathleen and Uncle Kent are waiting for you on the other side, Nanny, you are with our Lord. You are Home. Please watch over us all, until we meet again.
All our love, Karen, Joseph, Grace, Autumn, Joey, Martin and Kara xoxo

A letter to my grand mother

Nanny how to I say goodbye to you? How am I to say my goodbye from so many Kilometres away?
Nanny there are not enough words to say or write about the love I have for you. You have always been in my life since the day I was born. You have made a huge impact in my life which helped shaped me into the woman I am today. I am so appreciate of all you have done for me. When my parents decided to go their separate ways in life ,you were there, a major part of mine and my brothers lives. You were always was there and never left us. Spending lots of weekends walking up to your place to visit you, You taught me how to make cinnamon rolls with homemade icing which I still make to this day and They are a hit with my sons and I can’t wait to show my three grand daughters, your great great grand daughters (Tyvaiah 5 yrs Tyasia 3 yrs and Tyariah 1 month old ). how to make those rolls. Mom always says I got the cooking and baking bug from you. I thank you for showing me different ways to cook and bake and some of your secrets in baking. Shhh I won’t tell. Lol. You made sure while I was pregnant with my first child while I was finishing high school that I ate properly and it worked I gained 50 lbs. lol. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I had a good size baby healthy boy 8 lbs 1 oz Brandon. And when my second son Tyvon couldn’t keep any formulas down and I was frustrated and worried he wasn’t getting enough to eat to gain proper weight you told me what to do with carnation can milk and corn syrup ( the gold grown one). Lol and he did amazing, even my doctor said she couldn’t argue with a grandmothers way because she knows best. Lol. I look back at all the love and support you gave to me and my brothers even to my two sons, I hope I can be half the grandmother you were to me , to my grandchildren , we already have talks about great great grandma and I will make sure they know about you. You are one of the strongest women I know i
