GORELICK, Max Dr. – 84, Halifax, died peacefully at home on October 23 , 2012. He was born in New Waterford, NS, the son of the late Louis and Bunia (Magilner) Gorelick. Max attended Mount Allison University and Dalhousie Medical School. He went on to be the Medical Director of the Canadian Red Cross NS Blood Transfusion Service for 35 years. He also fostered his love of teaching by training many medical students, continuing to impart his knowledge and advice even when he himself was a patient. Max was pre-deceased by his wife, Rosemary (Young), and his sister, Fanny Rosenblum. He is survived by his children whom he loved dearly, Sara, Halifax; Bunia (Andrew), London, England; Mark (Bevin), San Francisco, California; and his sister, Gertrude Shane, Halifax. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Graeme Bethune; Dr. Ricardo Rendon; the VON nurses, especially Mary Smith, Justin Bragg, and Nadine Gaudett; the Capital Health Palliative Home Care Team, especially Devon Hennigar; the staff at Always Home Homecare, including Carla Simms; and the many paramedics who have assisted us over the years. All of these individuals worked to allow Max to remain in the comfort of his home. No words can describe what we owe to Ruth Winsor, caregiver extraordinaire, for taking care of Max like a king for the last three years. You are truly a member of our family and have our everlasting love and gratitude. A private family celebration will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Maritime Region. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneralhome.com
