
Garrison, Michael Ernest, age 82 of Halifax died June 18, 2016 on V3 Cedarcrest in the Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax, NS. Michael was born in Halifax on February 14, 1934. After being orphaned at age 4 he lived at St. Joseph’s Orphanage on Quinpool Road until the age of 12 when he moved to work on a farm in McArras Brook, Antigonish County. At age 15 he joined the Canadian Army, served in Korea and was a Prisoner of War for two years. Michael was much honored to have served with the military and wore his medals with immense pride. After the war he was employed as a stationary engineer with the Department of National Defense until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch #31, in Dartmouth. Michael had a great love for dogs, especially his own German Sheppard. As a devote Catholic, he found and displayed amazing strength in the face of adversity. Michael will be greatly missed by the caring staff, friends and volunteers at Camp Hill.
