Michaelia Marie Slater

Michaelia was known to many as Mickey. In her younger years Mickey was an active member of the Centerville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and was also involved with the girl guides. Mickey also enjoyed sewing, crafting and volunteer work at the IWK. It also brought her great pleasure to support different organizations such as MADD, Canadian Wildlife Foundation, and she sponsored children along with various other organizations. Mickey worked for many years at the Zellers in New Minas before graduating from the Continuing Care Assistant program at NSCC in 2001. This was a significant achievement for her which allowed her to pursue a career helping others, which brought her great joy.

Michaelia is survived by her son Glenn Melanson (Corinna), of Centerville N.S. her daughter Yvonne (Shane) Simms of London Ontario and two granddaughters, Bella and Georgia Simms.

Mickey will be greatly missed by her fur baby Bear, lifelong friend Gladys and special friend Marie Borden who helped her with so much the last few years.
