Mona Elia Chedrawe

Mountaha Chedrawe (ne; Elia) passed away peacefully in Halifax at the VG Hospital. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her passions; family and prayer. Mona was predeceased by her husband, the late Akel (Charlie) Chedrawe; her parents, Toufic & Hanna. Her brothers Antonius, Youssef & Daniel Elia and her sister Saide Chedrawy (ne;Elia). She is survived by her brother Jamil and sister Jamila of Lebanon; her children; Diane Khoury-Hanna (Daniel; deceased), Danny (Rose), and Ronald of Halifax and her grandchildren, Linda, Stephan, Charles, Amanda, Emily and Alec. Mountaha and Akel immigrated to Canada from Lebanon in 1965 where they became lovingly known as "Mona and Charlie." She dedicated her life to her family. Mona was a hard-working, generous woman that wanted for nothing and prayed for everything. Although she lacked a formal education, Mona was a very

intelligent woman. She had intuition, initiative and drive; she was a provider and a businesswoman but first and foremost she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister and an aunt. She put the needs of others before herself and whether you were a stranger or a friend she always wished you well. Equipped with a great sense of humor, it was the twinkle in her eye that warmed our hearts. Her affinity for God extended beyond morality; for her he was in everything and nothing was more prevalent than when she sang in his name. Her voice was benevolent and soulful and never forgotten. Mona left an indelible mark on all those she touched throughout her life. She will be remembered and forever loved. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 3844 Joseph Howe Drive, Halifax.
