She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of St. David in Halifax. In her earlier years she was an active member of the IWK Kermesse and other groups. She was a past member of the Ashburn Golf Club, Halifax Curling Club, the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, and the Saraguay Club.
She is survived her daughter, Donna (Rolf) Andersen, Musquodoboit Harbour; son, Michael (Alison) Fremantle, Australia, and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband A. H. Blair Purves and sister, Elsie M. Small.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia in Halifax.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service has been held. A memorial gathering will be held 3-5 pm Sunday, May 19, 2013, in the “Blue Room” at Summer Gardens, 1470 Summer Street.
