Ronald Gordon Bowser, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 27, 1953, passed away on May 21, 2026 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ron or Ronnie, as family and friends referred to him, will be remembered for his humour, kindness, and the big heart he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had a natural ability to make people laugh and brought warmth and friendship wherever he went.
In his early years, Ron proudly served as a reservist in the Canadian Army. He then became a member of the 33rd Service Battalion and worked as a supply technician with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and later the Royal Canadian Logistics Service, spending most of his working years at HMC Dockyard in Halifax. He retired in 2013 after 35 years with the Department of National Defence.
Ron talked often and fondly about his childhood memories of summer camping with family at Green Valley campground in Nine Mile River. In his adulthood, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid dart player who earned many trophies over the years, enjoying both the competition and the friendships that came with the game.
He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Bowser, mother, Florence Bowser (née Haley) brother, Ernest Bowser, nephew, Kevin Bowser and niece, Charmaine Colley.
Ron leaves behind his loving sisters, Eleanor Melanson (Mike) and Deborah Bowser; his daughter, Audrey Milley (Tim), nieces, Suzanne Spencer (Oscar), Michelle Melanson and Samantha Chace, great nephews Troy Colley and Bentley Davis and great niece, Cheyenne Rolfe; along with many loving cousins, other extended family and friends who will deeply miss his laughter, stories, and generous spirit.
