

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ronald Thomas Burke. He was a resident of Northwood Halifax 8 center for the last 10 years. Ronald passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 12, 2025 from natural causes.
Born on July 7th, 1955 he was the son of the late Shirley (Jaques) and Patrick Burke and he was predeceased by his wife Sherry Gail (Simms) Burke.
Ron attended St Mary’s Boys School and in his younger years enjoyed being and alter boy at St Mary’s Basilica. He also assisted with the good work by doing various tasks like helping put up bingo tables in the church hall. He worked as a Roofer for 20 years for the same company and was well liked by his peers. Ron was an amateur boxer and won many awards for boxing during his career including “Boxer of the Night” Moncton 1974.
Ron was predeceased by his brother Richard Burke, brother Stephen Burke, grandmother Leona Thompson and great grandmother Florence (Demone) Thompson.
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Debbie (Burke) Collins of Clayton Park, Starlene (Burke) Murphy of Halifax, Beverly Burke of Halifax and brother Thomas Burke of Sackville.
He is Survived by his son Timothy Burke, including 4 grandchildren Brianna Burke, Brody Burke, Brynlee Burke, and Beckett Burke as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the dedicated staff, nurses, doctors, and workers of the Northwood Center. For your dedication and passionate care not only extending the life of Ron but for also giving him the utmost quality of life that he could possibly have. Thank you all.
Care has been entrusted to Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 1pm in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax NS. Burial to follow service in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
