Sheila passed away Tuesday after a lengthy stay in the QEII Hospital, a month short of her 89th birthday. The daughter of the late Francis Redford Dauphinee and Winnifred May Graham, Sheila was born in Halifax on March 11, 1927. She was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn.
She attended Horton Academy and graduated from Acadia University in 1947. Sheila was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. At her retirement from J. L. Ilsley High School, she was head of the Home Economics Department. After retirement, Sheila pursued her passions. She showed her water colours in many shows and at Gallery 215. Her interest in antiques led to many years in the business with her friend, Verna. Frequent travel and varied handicrafts were an important part of her life. An excellent cook, her dinner parties were memorable.
Sheila is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife Susan; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Rebecca, and Sarah. Her niece, Heather Phillips, was special to her.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the QE11 Foundation at QE2Foundation.ca or 902-473-7932.
