

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Mae Bennett (nee Loxdale) of Timberlea. Sheila passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2022 at Melville Lodge at the age of 82. Sheila was the daughter of the late Alfred Edward Loxdale and Coral Olive Loxdale (Duggan) of Halifax.
Sheila was predeceased by Arthur Bennett, her loving and devoted husband of sixty years, her son Dale Bennett, and her sister Edith Longard.
She is survived by her grandson Matthew Bennett (Calgary, AB), brother Wayne Loxdale (Hubley, NS) and sister Marilyn Raw (Tucson, AZ).
Sheila was a graduate of Murphy’s Business School and was employed at Simpsons Sears, and an insurance company. Upon retirement, Sheila and Art accepted an invitation to join Christian Record Services to serve the visually impaired community in Nova Scotia. They dedicated their lives full time to promoting and serving the blind of the province. A highlight of their service was an annual blind camp held at Camp Pugwash, N.S. Their many accomplishments were recognized by Christian Record Services and they received several international awards.
Sheila was a lifelong member of the Halifax Seventh-day Adventist Church. She and Art personally lived a daily life of fellowship with their Lord and fervently looked forward to a reunion in heaven with the family they loved and those they served.
As per Sheila’s request, there will be a family service and burial on Friday, August 26 at 1:00pm at the Habitant Cemetery in Canning, NS where she will rest beside Art and Dale.
