Our hearts are filled with gratitude, peace and sadness as we announce the passing of our beloved mother Wendy Anne Rousson. She passed away comfortably on September 10, 2026 at Parkland By The Gardens with her boys by her side. Wendy was 82 years old.
Wendy grew up in Herring Cove with her grandmother who she dearly loved. She lived most of her adult life in Dartmouth, and then spent her later years in Halifax.
Wendy lived a full life and was such a beautiful person. She was a caregiver, singer and athlete. When talking about her childhood, one of her favorite memories was how she and her two sisters (Phylis, and Barb) qualified and competed at the national championships in the war canoe. Wendy had a beautiful voice and a passion for singing. Often referred to as the next Anne Murray. Wendy performed with local bands, frequently sang at her church, and was even on a local TV show in the 70s, Maritime Country.
However her love for taking care of others far surpassed her personal ambitions. She found tremendous joy in raising and supporting children. When given the opportunity to pursue a singing career, Wendy instead chose to focus on raising her two sons Gary and David. As a single parent, Wendy worked tirelessly and rose through ranks becoming data center manager at the Bank of Montreal. This enabled her to support and spend quality time with her boys.
As Gary and David grew older and moved out on their own, she left the corporate world in order to devote all of her time taking care of children through her church, volunteer activities and working as a cross walk guard. She was especially proud of the time she spent helping raise Jamie, who she considered her son and we considered our adopted brother. Wendy’s values and desire to help others was rooted in her faith.
Wendy deeply loved and was tremendously proud of her granddaughter Adaline. There was not a wall in Wendy’s home without her picture. Wendy also cherished her special relationship with her daughter in law Meghan.
Wendy is predeceased by her mom Gwen and sister Barb and is survived by her two boys Gary and David, and sister Phylis and brother Ken. There will be a plaque placed in her name on a bench at Public Gardens and a service will be in July of 2027 in Halifax Nova Scotia."
