Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Valerie Arbeau (nee Byron) and Henry Maxwell.
Yvonne, “Bonny”, lived a life of faith, love & humour. Never one to sit idly by, she was always happy to do her part, going above & beyond, in any area of her life. This included loving her family, serving her church, and her tireless work ethic.
She was always willing to listen, offer an encouraging word, and uplift whomever she encountered. If Mom could help anyone in any way, she would.
Her sense of humour was contagious and was one of her best attributes. She was instrumental in passing along this gift to her children and their children. Humour was her frequent coping mechanism and many joyful tears were shed from laughter.
She was an avid seamstress and several weddings and events showcased her handiwork.
Bonny & her husband Patrick “Pat”, were once caretakers of the UPC Miller Lake Campground. She especially enjoyed this time in her life, and took pride in keeping things running smoothly. Whether by purchasing supplies, arranging transportation, or any of the behind-the scenes tasks, Mom was happy to serve outside of the limelight. Life at Miller Lake was thoroughly enjoyed by her and even when they were no longer the designated caretakers, many happy hours were spent at their cottage located there.
People came to know and love Bonny through her involvement through her church, work, or even through chance encounters.
She graduated with a business diploma at the age of 50, proving that you’re “never too old to learn something new”.
Left to cherish the memory of 34 years of marriage is her loving husband Patrick, who always referred to her as “his Babe”.
Her example of faith, love & humour are tremendous gifts that have been left to her children: Lorna Long (Jim), Stephen Power (Deana) & Shannon Cowan (Jeff). Her Step-children: Marina, Corina, Michael (Tammy) & Christina Askew.
Also left to cherish the memory of “Nana” are her grandchildren: Amanda (Mark), Adena, Bryson, Hayden, Cameron, Mackenzie, Katie, Michael James, Austin & Olivia as well as her great-grandchildren: Ella & Emilie.
Bonny is also survived by her loving siblings: Geraldine, John (Tammy), George (Myrna), Marilyn (Keith), Gina and Bill. She also has several step-siblings who will miss her.
She was predeceased by her parents, grandson, Tyler and granddaughter, Carrie Ann.
Donations to her memory can be made to “One Church”, Halifax, NS.
