Greatly beloved Audrey May Confer, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Kennewick, WA. A lifetime resident of Hamilton, OH, Audrey and her husband Jack moved to Birmingham, AL in 2014 where their daughter Sharon resided. After Jack’s passing in 2020, Audrey moved in 2023 to WA state to reside close to her daughter, Nancy. Audrey was born on March 7, 1930, in San Francisco, CA to Wilfred and May Belton. As a young girl she loved playing piano and singing, and longed to attend The SF Conservatory of Music. She soon married Air Force Pilot Bud Bitner, and gave birth to Diane. Bud was tragically killed 2 years later in AF maneuvers. After some time, Audrey was volunteering at an Air Force dance, and was swept off her feet and fell in love with Jack, who was serving in the USAF. They married on June 19, 1954, in San Rafael, CA. After Jack completed his military commitment, they moved to Jack’s hometown, Hamilton, OH, where he was an Industrial Engineer at Armco Steel. Audrey gave birth to 3 more children, and enjoyed raising her 4 children and being a homemaker. Audrey loved and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in many capacities, participated in Bible studies, continued playing the piano, and served in children’s and various other ministries. Both Audrey and Jack were active at Westwood Presbyterian Church and later Front Street Presbyterian Church. Her pastimes were boating, fishing, and traveling, yet she was extremely passionate about singing in multiple choirs, barbershop trios, and community events (even at a later age singing at Carnegie Hall with a choir!). She enjoyed bridge clubs and volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, Bargain Bungalow, Girl Scout cookie sales, and many more. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Sharon (Ron) Shaddix of Hoover, AL, James (Kerri) Confer of Cape Coral, FL, and Nancy (Ward) Thompson of Prosser, WA. Audrey had 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Confer; husband Jack of 66 years; brothers, Fred, Bill, and Gordy Belton; and sisters, Mabel Fulmore and Madge Shirley, all of CA. A Visitation will be held from 10am until 11am on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, OH. A Service will follow at 11am on Saturday at the funeral home and will also be livestreamed on Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home's Facebook page. Interment will be private in Greenwood Cemetery.
