

Bertha “Bert” Phillips, age 89, of Millville, passed away at her home on Thursday December 22, 2011. She was born in Manchester, Kentucky on March 20, 1922 the daughter of James and Lillie (Bishop) Owens. Bert attended Hamilton City Schools. On September 16, 1939 in Liberty Indiana she married Coleman “Pee Wee” Phillips who were married over 61 years when he preceded her in death on August 1, 2001. Bert was an assembler at Pillsbury for 25 years, retiring in 1977. She is survived by her children, Helen Tate of Millville and Henry (Lisa) Phillips of Las Vegas, Nevada; 11 grandchildren, John (Lisa), David (Sherry), Teri (David), Sheri, Jimmie (Maria), Michelle (Al), Sheryl (Jeffery), Lisa (John), Leon Jr. (Laura), Rodney (Samantha), and Sharon (Mike); many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bill and Robert Phillips of Millville; beloved friend, Kathy Newberry; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Leon Tate; sisters, Nora Tussey and Louise Gentry; a brother, Charles Owens; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Wages and Maxine Blanton. Funeral Services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Ave. at South “D” St., Hamilton on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 12 Noon with Rev. James E. Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at the funeral home.
