She was born on September 17, 1937 in Clarkson, Kentucky to the late Lawrence Lee and Nancy Eliza {Witten} Franklin. On September 30, 1967, Imogene married L.Z. Cooley, in Louisville, Kentucky. Imogene was a league bowling coordinator for many years. She later became an admissions clerk at Mercy Ambulatory Surgery Center, Fairfield, which is where she retired from. Imogene had a way with all animals and loved her pets. She enjoyed watching and feeding the hummingbirds. She was an avid UK fan, but liked to follow all college basketball. Imogene also loved watching NASCAR, with Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. being her favorites. Imogene loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She spent the majority of her summers at Lake Cumberland, riding on the pontoon. Imogene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years; daughters Anita Coon, Bonnie (Paul) Wolfensperger, Cindy (Joe) Redmond; grandchildren David and Jacob; great grandchildren Addelyn, Brielle, Eli; brother Karl Franklin; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and many cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings Russell Franklin, Mildred Watson, Betty Boggs, and Albert Franklin. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 11:30am until 1:30pm at the Rose Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:30pm on Friday at the funeral home. Burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Imogene’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037.
