

Leonard “Shorty” Brewington, age 77 of Hamilton, passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was born in Gulfport, MS on January 19, 1944, the son of the late Leonard Clay and Rose Marie (Hurm) Brewington. On July 28, 1986, Leonard married his wife of over 34 years, Diane Welch. He was the owner of Sounds Unreal Music Store on Eaton Avenue in Hamilton for 13 years and owned a recording studio. Leonard played locally in Butler County until only 6 years ago. Prior to owning his store, he was a road musician traveling to several states, finally moving back to Hamilton from Michigan in the late 1970’s. There are several stories of him as a Hamiltonian teen playing local gigs and walking around Hamilton playing acoustic guitar. For the last 13 years, he had been a driver for Butler County RTA. Leonard is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Mark (Stephanie) Cash, Leonard C. Brewington, and Rose Marie Brewington; step-son, Glen Welch; grandchildren, Lillian Brewington, Leonard C. Brewington, Abbey (Craig) Cash, and Ian Cash; brother, Richard (Sandra) Dunnihoo; beloved niece, Lori (Terry) Embrey; great-nieces, Kaitlin Embrey and Tamara (Simone) Embrey-Czarnik; and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Teri Dunnihoo; and nephew, Pat Dunnihoo. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 1pm until 3pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton.
