Paul P. McDonough

Age 87, of Oxford, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the Knolls of Oxford. He was born in Butler County, Ohio, on February 7, 1925, the son of the late John B. and Frances (Page) McDonough. He married Mary Ann Wehner and she passed away after two years of marriage. On July 10, 1971, Paul married his wife of over 36 years, Martha E. “Marti” Arnold, and she preceded him in death on January 7, 2008. Paul was a prominent farmer in Oxford Township. He had a hobby of collecting arrowheads and enjoyed spending summer vacations with his wife and children at the family cottage in Bay View, Michigan. Paul is survived by his three children, Carolyn (Tim) Gowins of Ivor, Virginia, Paula (Bo) Copeland of Hamilton and Cathi Current of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Connor and Holly Gowins, Patrick, Samuel, Joseph, Jonathan and Timothy Copeland, and Ashley Swango; sisters, Frances Bever of Somerset, Ohio, and Martha Nelson of St Joseph, Michigan; brothers, Kenneth Mark McDonough of Coshocton, Tom McDonough of Ashland and James Basil McDonough of Oxford Township. Paul was also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Stephenson and twin brothers, Edgar and Edwin McDonough. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, 111 East High Street, Oxford, Ohio 45056 on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 10am with cousin, Father Tom Fitzsimmons and Father Jeff Silver officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Oxford. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6-8pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South D Street Hamilton and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
