MOSER
Richard J. "Dick" age 99 passed away on October 21, 2015 at Westover Retirement Community. He was born in Cincinnati on April 7, 1916; the son of John J. and Magdalena (Buchmann) Moser. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1934 and from Miami University in 1939. He served his country during World War ll in India with the 20th Bomber Group. Upon returning to the U.S.A. he was transferred to the Chicago Ordnance District with the rank of Warrant Officer. While in Chicago he met Helen Weirich of Dubuque, Iowa who he married on May 22, 1948. Helen preceded him in death on September 6, 1994. He is survived by his daughter Deborah S. Bryant and her husband, Charlie of Hamilton; his granddaughter, Shannon Cooper of San Diego, CA; his brother, Judge John R. Moser and his wife, Shirley; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. He retired as Treasurer and Controller of Velva Sheen Manufacturing Co., a division of Beatrice Food Co. After his retirement, he was appointed commissioner of the Veterans Service Commission effective February 1, 1987, a position that he held for 14 years before retiring. He was a 60 year member of Washington Lodge #17, F & AM. He was also a member of Royal & Select Masons of Ohio, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Scottish Rite (AASR) Cincinnati, Syrian Temple Shrine Cincinnati, Hamilton Shrine Club and Desert Club. He was also a life member of Military Order of the Cootie, Post 47, Fairfield; life member of American Legion, Post 138 Hamilton; life member of AMVETS, Post 1983, Hamilton; life member of DAV, Post 131, Middletown; life member of the Monkeys Mutual Aid Society, Hamilton. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Visitation will take place at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home - Hamilton, 3950 Pleasant Ave. Hamilton, OH 45015, on Monday, October 26 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Masonic and Scottish Rite services to be held at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services will take place the following day, Tuesday, October 27 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place immediately following services at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to Shriner Burns Institute, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
