

He is survived by children Eva (Jimmy) Chin of Glenn Arm, Maryland; James Walden of Marion, Indiana; Rhonda Webb of Oxford, Ohio; eight loving grandchildren, Christina, Loni, Erica, Jessica, Heather, Danielle, Cody, Lori “George”; and blessed with many, many great and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Mary Jarvis, Doug Walden, and Jack Walden. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Marie (Collins) Walden; son Rodney Lee Walden; parents Otis and Katie (Sullivan) Walden; daughter-in-law Deborah Walden; and great-grandson Cody Webb. He is also preceded in death by siblings: James Walden, Charles Walden, Allie Mae Proffitt, Hettie Crawford, Beulah Boyles, John Walden, Eugene Walden, Betty Jones, Jesse Walden, Frank Walden, Sarah Walden, and Nellie Baureiss.
George was ordained as a Baptist preacher in 1958 and faithfully served his community for 30 years. During his ministry, he founded and pastored New Bethel Church in Fairfield Township, Ohio, where he led the congregation for 18.5 years. He was also a devoted member of Fariston Church in London, Kentucky. George served in the US Army, including a tour of duty from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the Bronze Service Star three times, as well as the Bronze Star medal. He also earned the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal Korea, and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
At an early age, he worked in a grocery store with his sister Hettie Walden-Crawford, making deliveries with a horse and wagon. He worked at CPC Fisher Body Division, of Fairfield, Ohio,for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. He earned a certificate in Hydraulics and Pneumatics from Miami-Fisher Body. Rev. Walden was a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge #159, DAV #158 of Keavy, Kentucky, the Scottish Rite of Cincinnati, commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel (an honorary aide-de-camp of the governor), and the American Legion.
The family of William George Walden will receive friends from 10 to 12 noon Saturday at Bowling Funeral Home.
The funeral service for William George Walden will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Rose Hill Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ohio. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton
The family will receive friends beginning at 11 am Wednesday until the funeral hour of 12 noon at Rose Hill Funeral Home.
