Greg passed away on Tuesday, but he never gave up. He was a fighter, right to the end. He so much wanted to live, despite prolonged ill health.
There are a lot of reasons why we loved Greg, why everyone loved Greg. But maybe we loved him the most for how he would never put himself in the spotlight, he was happy to put someone else first, he would never complain, and somehow he always managed to maintain his great sense of humour, even when things were down and he wasn’t feeling well. He had practical wisdom and an uncanny ability to know when to speak and when to let things go. Greg was one of the most generous and hospitable people you will ever meet. He had an immense love for our cousins in Nova Scotia and visited when he could.
Greg loved his dog Oscor and they walked faithfully together 3 times a day. What will Oscor do without his beloved friend and master?
We will miss Greg dearly and will never forget his gentle manner, his kindness, humility, and the laughter he brought to every gathering. He was our dear brother and our best friend.
Greg is predeceased by his father Allister (1992) and his mother Anne (2008). He is survived by his sisters, Cathy (Steve) LeBlanc; Maureen (Steve) Emond; Margaret Turnbull and Patricia Forbes; and brother John (Maureen) Forbes. He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephews Matthew, Patrick,Caitlin (Jared); Jennifer, Colleen, Nathan, David and Steven (Jess).
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
