It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alwin, on Tuesday January 31st, 2017 in his 90th year. Alwin was the devoted and loving husband of Mary for sixty years (January 26, 1957). Beloved father of Helen and Fred (Janet). He will be deeply missed by his two grandchildren Connor and Bridget whom he adored and shared many wonderful moments with. Alwin is pre-deceased by his parents and siblings. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but especially by his nieces and nephews in Canada and Europe.
Alwin retired from Stelco at 58 years of age with 30 years of service and moved permanently to their cottage in Normandale, Ontario, where he enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, his fruit trees, chopping wood, as well as entertaining many family and friends over the years.
We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Norfolk General Hospital for their compassion and kindness as well as the staff at Crestmount Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 1 – 3 p.m. with a service at 3:00 followed by a reception at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E.
