After a brief illness with his family by his side on August 3, 2010 in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Janet for 39 years. Loving father of Curtis and Nicole Zizek (Mark). Dear brother of Peter Monti (the late Joan) and Angela Kneller (Richard) and brother-in-law of Mick McPherson (Sandy). He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews. Mel will also be remembered by his neighbours, friends and his co-workers at Stelco where he retired after 37 years of service. A special thanks to the nurses at Juravinski C-3, oncology and Dr. Grantham for their care and support.
The family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Ave. on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
