In 1956, they married and shared a loving 65 years together. They resided in Pembroke, Ontario, where they gave birth to two daughters Marian and Monica and as a family, they moved to Kitchener in 1966.
In Pembroke, Bertha worked at Cottage Hospital in housekeeping and continued on in cabinet making after their move to Kitchener. The original nap queen, she adored children and her many K9 companions throughout her life. Bertha had a routine of religiously watching the Price is Right daily for years, often refusing phone calls that interrupted her viewing pleasure. She enjoyed crocheting gifts for family and friends, cooking traditional german food and sharing a meal with family around the table.
Her family is very grateful to the physicians and nursing staff at Juravinski Hospital and the loving care from staff at Amica Retirement Home in Dundas. Together again, Bertha now joins her late husband Willi. Bertha will be missed by her daughters Marian and Monica (Marc), grandchildren Robyn, Kyle, Jade (Josh), Carly, Julia (Rory), and Tyler, great-grandchildren Elijah and Sutton, and extended family and friends.
A visitation for Bertha will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 2-3pm at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue E., Hamilton, ON L9A 1T2, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.
