Peacefully, with his family by his side Earl passed away on Monday, December 27 in his 91st year. Dearly loved and sadly missed by his devoted wife Margaret (nee Armstrong) of 65 years, and his children Sharon and her husband Henry Johnson, Robert “Bob” and his wife Martha who cherished him. Papa was a constant source of unconditional love, wise counsel, and encouragement to his adored grandsons Rob Slaght and Sean Johnson who were his best “pals” and also his pride and joy. Survived by dear sisters-in-law Helen Smith and Helen Slaght. He was a proud RCAF veteran of WWII serving in Gander, a retired employee of Imperial Oil, and a longtime member of Pioneer Memorial United Church. His loving niece Brenda Nelson and many family and friends, particularly Bruce Rennick and Bruce Sutherland delighted Earl with their calls and visits. Our dad was a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His faith, patience, courage and integrity will live in our hearts forever and help to sustain us during this difficult time. In keeping with Earl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
“Safe in the arms of Jesus, Until we meet again.”
