Cheryll Martin-Simms

Born on March 3, 1967, in Kingston, Jamaica, Cheryll was the beloved daughter of Novlet White and Henry Martin. She grew to become a remarkable woman whose strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others left an enduring impact on everyone privileged to know her.

Cheryll was a devoted and accomplished Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who dedicated her career to caring for others. Nursing was more than a profession—it was a reflection of who she was. Her kindness, patience, and selfless heart touched countless lives, and she faithfully served others with compassion and dignity throughout her career. A faithful member of Hamilton Church of God, Cheryll loved the Lord and lived a life that reflected generosity, service, and compassion. Her faith was evident in the way she loved others, offered encouragement, and continually placed the needs of family, friends, and even strangers before her own.

Above all else, Cheryll cherished her family. She was the beloved wife of 32 years to Winston Simms and a proud and devoted mother to Denisha, D'Anthony, Deaundra, and Davion. Nothing brought her greater joy than seeing her children thrive. She was also a loving grandmother to Maximus, Zendaya, and Arabella, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Chaniene Jones, Channett Jones, and Ann Marie, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, church family, and all whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Adrian Burgher (2025).

Those who knew Cheryll will remember her as strong-willed, loving, and deeply caring. She possessed a servant's heart and was always willing to help anyone in need—often putting others before herself without hesitation. Whether offering a listening ear, preparing a meal, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up when someone needed her, Cheryll gave of herself wholeheartedly. She cared for others not because she had to, but because it was simply who she was. Outside of her profession, Cheryll enjoyed watching African movies, tending to her garden, and continuously expanding her knowledge. She had a genuine curiosity about the world and loved learning about skilled trades and investing in the stock market. She embraced lifelong learning and encouraged those around her to do the same.

Though our hearts are broken by her sudden departure, we take comfort in knowing that the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind will never be forgotten. Her kindness, wisdom, resilience, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life marked by faith, service, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel, 322 Fennell Ave E. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Hamilton Church of God, 1955 Upper James St. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11am. Interment will follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery, 260 Rymal Rd E.
