Funny, outgoing, and always quick with a story, Colleen loved being surrounded by people and could strike up a warm conversation with anyone. She had a naturally generous heart and spent her life helping others, including her meaningful work caring for seniors, and the multiple hotel kitchens she managed and provided so much of her heart to. She was, above all, a deeply kind and caring soul.
A passionate collector and lifelong fan of The Wizard of Oz, Colleen held close to her heart its timeless wisdom: "A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others." Colleen was loved beyond measure, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
Colleen was the devoted mother of her son, Christopher, and her daughter, Erin. She was a deeply cherished grandmother to her five grandchildren—Maddisan (23) and Mackenzie (21); (children of Erin) and Isabelle (16), Natalie (15), and Jeremy (12); (children of Christopher)—who brought endless happiness to her heart.
She will be dearly missed by her five siblings: Barry, Jimmy, Michael, Anita, and Patrick, as well as her extended family, nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Wednesday, August 12th from 5 - 8 pm. She will be interred with her beloved parents, Albert and Marie, at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
We will be having a celebration of her life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #163 (Limeridge Road) at a date and time TBC in the near future. Information will be added here once details have been confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
