He is reunited with his beloved wife Ann. Loving father of Carol-Anne, Michael, Bryan (Linda), Kim and Karen (Jim). Cherished granddad of James (predeceased), Ryan, Joel, Samantha, Eric, Dillon and Caliban and great granddad to David and Julian. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Little. He is predeceased by 11 siblings. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
David was the son of Stephen Compton Butterworth and Ethel (nee Birch). David was one of 13 children born in Longsight, Manchester, England on January 11, 1936. He was recruited into the national service as a young man which took him to Egypt and Libya and gave him his wanderlust to travel throughout life. Those travels brought him to Canada with his young wife Ann and daughter where he settled and raised his family of five children. His travels took him across Canada, Alaska, Africa, Europe and his favourite portaging trips throughout Muskoka Highlands with his brothers and friends. David was a Pipefitter / Millwright at Stelco and Slater Steel. He was an all-around generous and talented handyman for all who knew him. He never hesitated to lend a hand with a repair of any kind. A true gentleman with a great sense of humour and valued family above all. We will miss your kindness and calming presence. You will always be dearly loved, rest in peace Dad.
