Deborah "Debbie" Jean Peters

Beloved wife to Michael Peters for 55 years. Loving mother to Jennifer Gibson, wife of Joseph (deceased), Sharon Hixon, wife of Chris Hixon and Kevin Peters, husband of Paola Fabrizio. Cherished grandmother to Brandon Gibson, Justin Hixon, Amanda Sirignano, Ashley Malec, Ryder Peters, Abigail Hixon, Oliver Peters, Ben Hixon, Sam Hixon, Aubrey Hixon and Andrew Hixon. Great Grandmother to Bella Hixon, Josh Hixon, Remy Gibson and Hudson Hixon. Dear sister of Christina Spry, David McAlpine, Sandra Arnold, Donna Swayze and Mary Jane Boyd.

Debbie had 25 fulfilling years working at Wellington Retirement Home where she enriched many lives with her selfless care. When she retired, she donated much of her time to helping the poor and marginalized at DeMazenod Door Outreach as a volunteer by preparing meals and serving the poor of downtown Hamilton. She also served on the board as one of the founding members for many years.

Debbie was an avid baker, feeding her family and friends with tasty treats, but also sharing with friends, the poor and providing for charity fundraisers. She was very crafty, making custom cards and scrap booking. Debbie was active in church life at St. John the Baptist Church and St. Patrick Parish. She loved spending time at the family retreat in Haliburton County and had many memorable vacations/adventures traveling across Canada with her husband.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 620 Rymal Road East, Hamilton on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10 a.m. A celebration of Debbie’s life will follow the mass in the church hall.
