Devoted and loving husband of over 52 years; to Christine (Dzienis). He was her one true love. Proud and dedicated father to Daniel and Jennifer Crooks and to Donna Crooks and Matthew Goddard. Playful and adoring grandpa to Charlee and Noah. Brother to Debbie (Leroy) MacPhee and Pamela (Ed) Rizzo. Brother in-law to Betty Crooks. Predeceased by parents Les and Pat Crooks; sister Lesley and brother-in-law Bryan Clermont; brother Terry Crooks; parents-in-law Lucjan and Maria Dzienis.
Dennis and Chris first met when they were teenagers and he was the President of the Clutchmen's Car Club. His love and enjoyment of cars propelled him through life as he owned several "classic" cars and that made him the family mechanic. Several of the original members of the Club have remained a part of his life and he treasured that relationship discussing the "old times" with them whenever he could.
Dennis was a dedicated Ironworker of Local 736 of Hamilton. He wore his Ironworker cap proudly all the time. Always a "hands on" kind of guy, he was the first to help others. He instilled this quality in his children. He was a very skilled "modern day MacGyver" who had a tool for almost everything but his most lasting project was building a legacy of love and laughter.
His love of fishing passed on to his family and years ago; it evolved into The Crooks Fishing Tournament with a trophy passing from one family member to another every year. The Hamilton Tiger Cats were his team and Chris and Dennis followed the CFL with utmost devotion. Go Cats Go!! As much as he lost with Parkinson's; he never lost his wit and humour.
Thank you to all the compassionate health care workers who helped him get to the finish line safely.
Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
