Beloved wife of the late Bruno Rino Furlan (1998). Loving mother of Robert (Carrie), Walter (Liz) and Dino (Debra). Cherished Nonna of Stephanie (Pierce), Joel (Danielle), Jacob (Cadence), Josh (Lisa), Jared, the late Ryan, Katelin, Nicholas and Bisnonna of Sullivan, Leopold and Ludwig. She was the youngest child of the late Giovanni and Luigia Franzin.
Dirce took the courageous step to leave Italy and immigrate to Canada in 1957, two years after her husband Bruno arrived. She worked hard to support her family with demanding, labor-intensive jobs. With working long hour days and raising her family, she was always proud of their decision to come to Canada.
Dirce was strong, loving and family oriented. She showed her love most through her cooking, baking and bringing everyone around her table. You could always count on being very well fed in the Furlan house! She had a passion for sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery. A very vibrant woman with a zest for life, she enjoyed gardening, singing, dancing and always looked forward to her weekly bowling team outings. As a proud member of the Vivere Sani (Venetian) Club, she contributed greatly to their cookbook, which was released to continue the legacy of traditional Italian cooking. Her beautiful energy and deep love will be truly missed by her family, friends and all of those who knew her.
We are especially grateful to the staff at Alexander Place for their loving, exceptional care of our mom. Their kindness, compassion and dedication brought comfort to her daily.
