Dragica (Carol) Pecar

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dragica on August 26, 2024 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Ivan (1996). Loving mother of Danny, Susan and Maryann. Dear sister of the late Frank Resijan (Ljubica), the late Anka Podrebarac (the late Alojz), Marica Sambol (the late Josip) and Alojz Resjan (Janica). Will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends in Canada, Croatia and Germany. Will also be missed by her friend, Janko Sovs. Dragica was very friendly, always thinking of others and willing to help out anyone. Mom was an excellent cook and baker, known especially for her povitica (walnut loaf) which was a favourite at every holiday and special occasion. She enjoyed gardening and attending social events such as picnics, dances, or an evening of playing cards. She was hardworking with a strong work ethic, having several different jobs until retiring after 18 years at Burlington Technologies. She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Cross Croatian Church and a member of the senior’s group DUSK. Mom was a warm and caring person and we will miss her greatly. Special thanks to Dr. Shazia Akhtar and to the wonderful staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, on Friday, August 30 from 4-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. If desired, donations to Holy Cross Church would be appreciated.
