
CIPRIETTI, Elmo After a difficult battle with cancer, Elmo was called by the Lord on December 7, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto. Elmo attended Cathedral Boys' High School in Hamilton and graduated from St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto. He was a keen connoisseur and respected critic of opera and classical music. While at university, he served as music editor of the Varsity, the university's daily newspaper. After graduation, he taught high school English for a few years and then began a long career of writing by-line articles about music for Maclean's Magazine and Canadian Press. After many years as a journalist, he was employed by the Ontario government where he produced a variety of government publications and retired as a Senior Communications Officer. Predeceased by his parents, Andrea and Domenica Ciprietti, Elmo is sadly missed by his brother Paul (Mary Ann) Ciprietti and his sister Rose (Peter) Mielko, niece Christina (Scott) Haslip, nephews Michael (Stephanie) Mielko, Andrew and Matthew Ciprietti and also by his five great-nieces and nephews, many cousins in Hamilton and by friends in Toronto. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. East (at Kenilworth) in Hamilton on Thursday, December 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 10th at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mt. Albion Road in Hamilton at 11:00 a.m. At Elmo's request, cremation will follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses on 6M and 6G at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto, and especially to Dr. M. Davidson, Dr. E. Gutman, Jose San Pedro and the palliative care team. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
