She is survived by her loving daughter Elvira "Vera" Fritz (Dan Bartus), her nephew Rudolf "Rudi" Szentpetery, in Sweden, and extended family Michael and Jackie Wang and their children Emma and Lukas.
Predeceased by her parents Zoltan & Maria (nee Koroskenyi) Badics, her sisters Kornelia "Nelli" Badics and Sarolta "Sari" (Jozsef "Joska") Szentpetery of Hungary, brothers Jeno "Ocsi" Badics and Laszlo "Laci" Badics of Sweden, and nephew Tamas Szentpetery.
Elvira was born in Budapest, Hungary, and after spending some time in England and Sweden, immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1966. She lived in Saskatchewan for a few years before returning to Hamilton for the remainder of her life. During her career she worked many years as a real estate agent.
Elvira was a very cheerful, good-humoured, and feisty woman who delighted in playing games - including bridge, bid euchre, bingo, and word searches. She enjoyed activities such as line dancing, and she played the violin for many years, including time with the concert group Centre for String Playing in Hamilton. She also enjoyed bird watching, travelling, arts, and crafts, and spending time with her daughter. All her life she endeavoured to learn new things, including teaching herself Spanish.
She was most recently living at Regina Gardens LTC where she got excellent care, and remained in good humour, attending their activities and enjoying the friendship. Elvira will be missed by her friends and family.
Cremation and a private family service have taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton and Halton or the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated. Condolences and memories are welcomed by her family on this webpage.
