Our deepest condolences to the family and friends.   We are the Bosma's on Stoneman Rd and  we just heard of his passing.   We are so saddened  and  we will certainly miss him coming to our home to hunt.  Yes, he loved to share stories with so much enthusiasm or care.   May God give you much comfort,  strength and peace!  Sid, Fran,  Mike and Chrystal!!

We will miss Fernando coming around our farms hunting for geese.  He always stopped in to give us pepperettes and of course some of the great wine he made! He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. May you rest in peace.

To Fernando’s family you have my most sincere sympathy 
Fernando was a larger than life kind a guy he  was passionate about hunting and hunting dogs and for that matter what ever he set his mind to do.  Telling stories with actions and sound effects kept us all entertained and that just made spending the day afield with Fernando much more enjoyable.  I have great memories of hunts for pheasants, geese and coyotes. 
So long my friend the happy hunting grounds await you.

Our deepest condolences to the entire  Matias family.  We were heartbroken when we heard of Fernando's passing.  We will miss him dearly.  I will miss his stories and life adventures.  We had a lot of great conversations.  I also admired your pellets and I remember you surprised me with one.  I still have the coyote pellet on display and every time I look at it I will think of you.  Thank you, my friend.

I will remember his warmth and kindness, how he was most welcoming and a little sassy, the stories he told were remarkable and pentiful.  Fernando showed a willingness and want to share with others. No one could feel like a stranger in his presence.  He was  proud of his flowers, hunting skills and his wild animal calls were unmatched. One of my fondest memories is how he demonstrated his adoration and teasing of his "girl" Cidalia.  Fernando made everyone feel like a welcomed old friend quickly and he will be greatly missed,  remembered constantly, by so very many.  He lived boldly, mentored many, kept hunting secrets and he was unpretentious, generous and found his own way in this world and made the very best of it! RIP

Fern took me, a 13yrs young “mangia-cake” under his wing decades ago. Fernando was my surrogate older brother.  He taught me to shoot, he taught me to hunt, he taught me  respect - respect for the land, the animals, and the farmers who graciously shared their property with us.  I owe so much of who I am to our friendship and his mentoring. 

Truly an unforgettable character.  Colourful might be one of several adjectives I would choose? Anyone that knew him will know what I mean. I will sure miss you “Pork Chop” you left us way to soon. Your spirit will be with me everytime I venture afield. My heart breaks for Cidalia and your family.

Fernando left behind a wife, son, step-sons , family, friends and work colleagues who loved and cared for him.    He was a passionate and principled man.   He loved hunting and his dog.
Adam and I send our heartfelt condolences to  the Matias family and his extended family..  We all feel this huge loss in our hearts and lives.
Our hearts have a place where he will reside forever.
