After the gift of 90 years of life, on October 10, 2021, Francis Jerome MacDonald received his angel wings. It is with much love and sadness that we announce the passing of Francis. Beloved husband of Carmel for 66 years who patiently cared for her with love, especially these last few years. Loving father of Linda (Wayne), Danny (Tracy) and Lisa. Devoted grandfather to Jeff (Danielle), Stephen, Tara (Giulio), Allie, Graeme (Stephanie), Sadie and Cecelia and great-grandpa to Madeline Marie. He is pre-deceased by his siblings Donald, Wallace and baby sister Christina and will be sadly missed by Margaret, Elmer (Joan), Angus, Sylvester, Catherine, Bernadette, Eugene, Allan (Teresa) and Theresa (Raymond). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Francis was a proud member of Steelworkers Local 1005 for 38 years. He was an avid fan of hockey - Leaf nation has lost their #1 fan - baseball, golf, boxing, country music and ice cream. Francis will always be remembered for his kind and caring ways and his ability to make others feel special. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights and the Cardiology team at the Hamilton General Hospital.

We wish to send condolences. My memories of Francis are when we would see him in Lakevale as Wallace cousins. My father, Billie, was very fond of his sister's boys. Francis was the giant gentle man who spoke softly. I wish to send condolences to his family, including all his siblings. May he rest in peace.

Francis will always and forever hold a special place in my heart. A kind, gentle man who along with Carmel always welcomed me in their home like one of their own, not just Linda’s friend. I have always thought of them as my parents away from home, especially while attending nursing school in Hamilton. Throughout many homesick weekends while at nursing school , I practically lived at their home on Fairholt Ave. So many fond memories of Francis throughout the years that I will hold close at heart forever. Rest In Peace Francis , yours was a life well lived and now time for you to rest. ❤️🙏🏻
With love and immense respect ,
