

Passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton on January 25, 2012 in his 97th year. He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years Doris (1998) and his son Glenn (2004). He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Susan Boere (Nick), Janice Budge (Graham), and Carolyn (Dan). Cherished grandfather of Mark, David, Michelle, Jennifer, Carlie, Brian, Alana, and Dawn and great-grandfather of Haiden, Sydney, Asrya, and Eli. Lile was born in Hamilton, grew up in Toronto and attended the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1941. During WWII he served as a medical officer at the Pennfield Ridge Air Base in New Brunswick. In 1946, he returned to Hamilton and began his medical practice on Ottawa Street N. where he continued for 41 years; retiring in 1987 at 72 years of age. Dr. Harvey was a kind and caring family physician for the east end of Hamilton, greatly admired and respected by his colleagues and many patients (fondly remembered for his house calls). He was also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as an honorary deacon and a member of the music and finance committees. Since 2002 he lived at the Meadowlands Retirement Residence in Ancaster where he was occasionally a medical consultant to the nursing staff and also appeared as a model in several brochures. He developed many strong friendships there and will be greatly missed by residents and staff. Friends and family will be received at MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), Hamilton, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on February 1, 2012. The funeral service will be held in the Marlatt Memorial Chapel on Thursday , February 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
